But because it reunited the reporters and photographers who covered the Vietnam War, the celebration was tempered by sobering thoughts of the war and commemorations of those who died in the crossfire. MANY infants who die in New York City are buried in unmarked graves in Potter's Field, the Coalition for the Homeless reported. A study by the group showed that of 6,527 children under the age of 1 who died from 1981 to 1984, almost half -3,070 - were buried in trenches in the field, on Hart Island.
