India Tells of Foiling Uprising in Kashmir

LEAD: Officials in Srinagar, the Kashmiri capital, said today that separatists had planned to declare independence from India on Friday and send thousands of supporters into the streets in a show of force timed to coincide with India's independence day. The officials say the plan was foiled after a number of leading Kashmiri militants were captured by the security forces.

Both businesses had been for sale since Black & Decker acquired the Emhart Corporation last year.

LEAD: The Federal Express Corporation exercised three options to acquire freighter versions of the McDonnell Douglas Corporation's MD-11 aircraft and added another eight options. Federal Express now holds a total of 8 firm orders and 11 options, McDonnell Douglas said. The new firm orders are scheduled for delivery in 1992.
