Během ledna 2016 se stala pověřenou osobou republikánské strany, která zprostředkovala oficiální odpověď na Zprávu o stavu Unie, přednesenou demokratickým prezidentem Barackem Obamou.
Časopis Time ji v roce 2016 zařadil na seznam „100 nejvlivnějších lidí“.
